Louisiana State University Performance

Violet will perform “(I am still here) Language Has Left The Building” at the HopKins Black Box theatre at Louisiana State University Baton Rough on Friday, September 3, 2011.  This performance is presented by the Department of Communication Studies.

(I am still here) Language Has Left The Building
Counting languages learned and lost over the generations in her family history, English is Juno’s sixth language.  So perhaps it comes as no surprise that this performance investigates the intriguing dynamic between language and language(less)ness.  Recounting stories from the classroom, the ICU ward and Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Juno explores how words express and shape who we are and what we think we know. To fully explore the multiple languages at play, Juno uses a multi-disciplinary  approach interweaving the use of theatrical props and costumes, evocative movement, layered text and a three-dimensional form of cognitive mapping.  Since 1990, Juno has performed and exhibited at over 70 theaters in 30 cities in the United States, Canada and Scotland including Museum of Modern Art and PS122 in New York, Highways in Los Angeles, and Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada.
