Milkbar Salon in Oakland – Nov. 9, 2012

Violet will perform a new piece entitled “Let Me Spell It Out For You” as part of the Milkbar Salon on November 9th in East Oakland.  This is a new site-specific piece that involves playing the innards of an upright piano, dissecting a toy Barbie piano and dancing on an amplified piano bench–all while telling stories about being a twin, the twin language that we created, and the trials and tribulations of learning English.  Other presenting artists include Megan Nicely (Dance) and Sarah Danhke (Dance Video), Vanessa Norton (fiction), Angela Reginato (film), and music to be announced. Each quarterly salon at MilkBar seeks to include a range of offerings including performance, video, dance, music and visual art.  Below are details about the salon drawn from the MilkBar web site. There is also a mention of this salon in the East Bay Express as part of the Fall Arts Guide.
